Based on a permanent contract, our graduate programmes include on- and off-the-job components, place the emphasis on teamwork but also explore each individual's specific skill set, further their development and set specific objectives.
We offer you an 18-month rotation programme in the different data teams within Pictet Asset Management (PAM), covering data science, big data engineering, business intelligence, and data governance as well as in teams in other departments. You will also have the opportunity to work with business teams in order to gain first-hand exposure to investment, trading, and distribution activities.
The selected candidate could also work for 3 months in our London offices.

As a participant in our graduate programme, you will develop your technical and business know-how by working alongside accomplished IT and investment professionals. You will be in constant communication with data vendors in order to integrate different data sources into our data repositories. Your training will be supplemented by a professional certification in finance to further enhance your business education. In addition, our programme will enable you to develop the interpersonal and self-leadership skills you will need in your future career at Pictet and give you the opportunity to build a network of peers within the company.
At the end of the programme you will be ready to take full ownership of a Big Data Engineering position within PAM, with a complete understanding of the solutions provided and the underlying technologies, as well as a good overview of business needs.
The programme is made up of different tracks to be run in the various units and departments of PAM. The below list is to give some examples but is not exhaustive:
> Big Data Engineering: you will evaluate providers of structured/unstructured datasets, and design integration solutions. You will architect and implement high performance batch and streaming data pipelines for our data scientists and internal business users by using our big data stack (kubernetes cluster, S3 data lake, Spark cluster). You will assemble large, complex datasets to meet functional business requirements. You will optimize our current data pipelines and artificial intelligence/machine learning workflows.
> Data Science: you will learn how to conduct descriptive and predictive modelling by using state-of-the-art machine learning techniques.
> Business intelligence: thanks to data visualization tools, you will deliver insights by creating added-value dashboards for our investment teams.
> Data Management and Governance: you will understand the challenges in data modelling, data quality, and the production of master reference data.
> DevOps: You will create data pipelines via continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), software deployment, release management, support, and cloud integration;
> Recent or soon-to-be graduate in Computer Science (Master degree level or equivalent) from a top business school.
> At least 6 months' experience working for an international company or in a multicultural environment.
> Excellent software development skills in Python, and in-depth knowledge of distributed and real-time computing.
> Excellent knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
> Good knowledge of the software development stack, APIs, micro-service architectures, and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
> Good knowledge of visualization tools (Tableau, Gephi, D3.js, …) and exploratory tools (Jupyter notebooks, …).
> Prior knowledge of finance or investment would be a plus.
> Strong communication skills.
> An enquiring mind as well as an ability to innovate and be a strong team player.
> Strong involvement in extracurricular activities contributing to specific projects (academic, humanitarian, etc.) is highly appreciated.
> Fluency in English.
