Brève descriptionDistalMotion is a Swiss medical device venture democratizing robotic surgery. We enable urologists, gynecologists and general surgeons to access the benefits of robotics within established workflows and budgets. Our products are in pilot use in leading Swiss hospitals, and we are preparing for European market entry by spring 2018.

To support our team in the launch and growth phase, we are looking for several interns full-time positions at our Lausanne office in the following topics:

- Control Systems Engineering
- Embedded Software Development
- Software Development & Internet of Things

These positions are paid positions and length is open to discussion (3-6 months, to be discussed).
Description complèteDistalMotion has several positions open for interns in Control Systems (CS) Engineering, Embedded Software Development (ESD), Software Development and Internet of Things (IoT).

As an intern with DistalMotion you will be fully integrated to the project team, participate and drive projects in the world of surgical robotics. You will work closely with our core team at our Lausanne offices and with contracting partners across Europe.

All positions are open to EPF/ETH candidates with pursuing or having pursued a degree in a relevant discipline connex to surgical robotics such as Mechanical Engineering, Microtechnology, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science.

Position 1 - Control Systems Engineering
- Participate to the development of control software for a surgical unilateral telemanipulator
- Model, implement, verify and validate software in close collaboration with the project team and with academic partners

Minimum qualifications for control engineering
- Skilled in Matlab/Simulink - modeling, implementing, simulating and validating control systems algorithms
- Interested in writing control algorithms and testing on a real-life surgical robot
- Embedded software development: C/C++, MCU
- Prior experience with Brushless DC Motors, positioning controllers, sensors, etc.
- Prior experience with mechatronics devices

Position 2 - Software Development & IoT
- Participate to the development of an embedded IoT device (Linux-based) connected to our surgical robot
- Write proof-of-concept software in the Cloud to gather data collected on IoT devices over cellular connectivity

Minimum qualifications for software development & IoT
- Linux & Windows guru - full-stack style
- Software development in C/C++, Python
- Excited by all things related to Internet of Things
- Able to write code in the Cloud or on a small form-factor embedded device (e.g. Embedded Linux)

Position 3 - Embedded Software Development
- Participate to the development of control software for a surgical unilateral telemanipulator
- Write low-level and high-level software for our embedded systems
- Write test software for test benchs

Minimum qualifications for embedded software development
- Embedded software development: C/C++, MCU, ARM
- Serial protocols, low-level programming i.e. CAN, UART, I2C, SPI, RFID
- Past experience with IoT devices (e.g. cellular-based communication)
- Maker spirit, familiar with an hardware workshop
- Mechatronics devices i.e. robots or similar
- Real-time, operating systems
