Long descriptionWe offer the exciting opportunity to work closely with our asset trading team for the optimal participation of Alpiq’s flexible assets on the Western European power markets. Your work will consist in further developing and running optimisation models of production assets (mainly hydro plants and other renewable-energy assets, contracts with optionality), in extracting valuable information from production-relevant data (demand, supply, prices, weather forecasts, water inflows), as well as in implementing new decision-support tools. As an analyst close to business, you will be seated on the trading floor.

You hold a university degree in engineering, math, or physics and have solid understanding of the power grid system. You have outstanding analytical skills (data analysis, mathematical optimisation, quantitative modelling of power generation assets). Furthermore, you have very strong computer programming experience, including Matlab, Python, and databases. You have excellent communication skills and speak English fluently; ability to communicate in French and/or German is an advantage. As a Swiss or EU citizen, you are ready to tackle new challenges by joining a dynamic team of specialists, located in Lausanne, Switzerland, active on the power generation market.

ALPIQ is a leading Swiss electricity and energy services provider with a hydro-power focus. The company operates in electricity production, as well as energy trading and sales. ALPIQ is active on all the important European exchanges and bilateral markets. It commercializes its own power plant capacities and supply contracts; ALPIQ also trades with standardised and structured products.
